Exceptionally talented and highly esteemed Scottish woman artist born in Glasgow in 1925.

We are delighted to announce for 2025 the acquisition of a large number of Florence’s works by Glasgow Museums and Art Galleries with plans to show them in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. You can view the works here.

Living to age 94, Florence leaves a wide-ranging legacy of work created across 60 years. The collection is currently being catalogued by her daughter and is available by appointment for viewing and sales.

Florence had no formal art training, yet she achieved top professional recognition for her work, becoming a member of the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA) and Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW).

She exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, the RSW, SSA and the Glasgow Institute.

In 2014 she was one of four remaining living artists chosen for the prestigious ‘Glasgow Girls’ Kirkcudbright exhibition.

She received the Royal Scottish Academy Award and the Royal Glasgow Institute Torrance Award.

Florence is represented in various public collections including:
